New York, May 2020—As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, people are joining forces and getting creative with ways they can lend a helping hand. There are many ways to do your part, but one organization that stood out to us was Heroes for Heroes. Started by Jeff Kaplow and Jennifer Asher, the organization is working hard to deliver meals to New Yorkers working on the frontlines.
“Frontline and essential employees are making sacrifices to keep us safe and healthy, so it’s important to help them feel as supported as possible,” says Kyle Mattice, President of Tandym Group. “Often putting others’ needs above their own, something as simple as taking a break to have a quick bite, can be easier said than done. By bringing the meals to them, Heroes for Heroes is playing a critical role in ensuring they have the fuel they need to keep going.”
Since starting, the team has served over 10,000 frontline workers and has partnered with over 10 hospitals. “What started off as a small project, took off in a matter of days,” says Jeff. “The response has been amazing. Donations have far surpassed our original goal, which has allowed us to help more people than we ever imagined.”
With more donations coming in, Jeff and Jennifer have been able to branch out and find other ways to help the community. They’ve most recently partnered with a few NYPD precincts and food shelters. At the food shelters, Heroes for Heroes has been able to feed the warehouse workers and the homeless.
To supply the food, Jeff who is a Subway franchisee, is leaning on his team at his stores. “My employees are the main reason I have been able to do this,” he says. “We’re donating about 400-500 sandwiches a day, and they’re coming in early to make this happen. They’ve gone above and beyond to help the community, and I can’t thank them enough.”

“It has been our privilege to lead a company that prides itself on 35 years of integrity, culture, quality, and service excellence,” Fleischman said. “While the time is right for us to pass the torch, we believe the best is still ahead of us. Larry is a proven and respected leader who has delivered strong results in the 20 years he has been with the firm. We are confident he will help our firm evolve and grow in the years to come.”
Kyle Mattice, Tom Potenza, and Mitchell Peskin will join Larry on the Executive Leadership team. The program recognizes the fastest-growing companies in the state that are making significant contributions to strengthening New Jersey’s economy. To qualify, companies had to meet selection criteria that included a revenue size of at least $500,000 within the past two out of three years and growth in revenue over a three year period, dating from fiscal year 2015 to 2017. This was the first year that Tandym Group, which has offices in Bridgewater and Parsippany, has been named to this list.
“We are honored to be recognized,” says Larry Dolinko, President of Tandym Group’s Temporary division. “This growth is driven by our amazing team, who is dedicated to making the best possible match between people and companies. We have always believed that people are what move companies forward, and that couldn’t be more true at Tandym.”

New York, November, 2018—After several years in our New York City HQ, it was time to upgrade our office space. After signing a long-term lease renewal at 675 3rd avenue, construction commenced in July and concluded this fall.
While we have done some renovations in recent years, including an expansion onto a second floor, we needed to do a complete overhaul. With a focus on collaboration, the office features a completely open layout with plenty of shared meeting spots. To ensure the aesthetic better aligned with our brand, we went with a cohesive grey, blue, and white color scheme with wood accents. The office also features a new café that can fit up to 60 people to help facilitate a collaborative environment during peak lunch hours.
“The goal was to create a space that people are excited to come to every day,” says Edward. “Instead of it feeling like a traditional corporate office, we wanted it to almost feel as if you are stepping into one’s living room. Comfortable and approachable.”
New York, November, 2018—Kyle Mattice, President at ES Healthcare, division of Tandym Group, was featured in a recent Staffing Industry Analysts article discussing evolving healthcare trends and their impact on the staffing industry.

We can add more value as subject matter experts who advise our partners on how to differentiate as employers or job seekers in light of new trends.”

New York, August 2017—Tandym Group is proud to announce that we have been named to Inc. magazine’s 36th annual Inc. 5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies! The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment— its independent small and mid-sized businesses.
This is the third consecutive year that Tandym has made the list, and of the tens of thousands of companies that have applied to the Inc. 5000 over the years, only a fraction have made the list more than once. Only one in five have made the list three times.
“We are honored to be named to the Inc. 5000 for the third consecutive year,” says Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group. “Our growth over the past 32 years wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our dedicated team. Upon walking into any one of our offices, you immediately see people who are hard at work, but more importantly, passionate about what they are doing. This type of energy has been integral to our success and I’m excited to see where it takes us.”
The 2017 Inc. 5000 is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. The average company on the list achieved a three-year average growth of 481%. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue is $206 billion, and the companies on the list collectively generated 619,500 jobs over the past three years. The list is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2013 to 2016. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2013. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2016.
“The Inc. 5000 is the most persuasive evidence I know that the American Dream is still alive,” says Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “The founders and CEOs of the Inc. 5000 tell us they think determination, risk taking, and vision were the keys to their success, and I believe them.”

Florida, July 2017—Tandym Group was recently named one of Florida’s Best Companies To Work For. The annual Best Companies list is featured in the August issue of Florida Trend magazine. One-hundred companies are ranked in small, medium and large employer categories.
To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that chose to participate underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
“What’s clear from our list is that amenities like free lunch or a game room at the workplace are not the things that make a great workplace. Those amenities are just part of the way companies reflect their cultures — it’s the culture of the company and the company’s ability to hire people who understand and embody the culture that create a great workplace,” says Florida Trend's Executive Editor Mark Howard.
Tandym Group, which has offices in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale, ranked as #20 in the large employer company. With both office locations established in 2015 to provide on the on-the-ground support to our clients in Florida, we’ve built a strong reputation as a leading firm in this market.
"A company is only as good as their employees, and all eight of our offices are comprised of the most talented people in the industry," says Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group. "We believe in teamwork, camaraderie, and hard work. These principles are deeply engrained in our culture, which is why we do not define success by key performance indicators, but rather by the relationships we've built. This has allowed us to develop an environment where every employee, regardless of tenure, has the support they need for both personal and professional success."

New York, May 2017—Tandym Group is excited to announce that we have earned the 36th spot on Forbes’ inaugural list of America’s Best Recruiting Firms!
To compile this list of 250 executive search firms, Forbes partnered with analytics firm Statista who invited thousands of recruiters, employees who have worked with recruiters over the past three years, and HR managers to take an online survey. The survey asked them to recommend up to 10 recruiting firms (excluding their own)—gathering a total of 20,000 recommendations. The companies with the most recommendations ranked highest.
“Our reputation as a leading firm would not be possible without the support of our dedicated team,” says Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group. “While the job market has changed over the years, our core values—integrity, flexibility, partnership, service, and community—have not. I truly believe that our continued success is due to the fact that all of our employees embody these principles.”

New York, May 2016 – Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group, is a regular contributor to Fortune as a part of their Leadership Insiders network. In his most recent op-ed, Edward discusses the importance of disconnecting from work responsibilities while you’re on vacation.
In his article, Why It’s Okay to Stop Checking Email on Vacation, Edward outlines the importance of creating a work-life balance and managing expectations. “Many people think that advertising their offline status or creating a professional boundary will damage their image as hard-working employees,” he writes. “In reality, setting an out-of-office response is a highly effective way to protect your personal time and manage others’ expectations concerning when they will receive a response.”

New York, May 2016 – Kyle Mattice, President of Tandym Group’s Health Services division, was featured as a contributor in Becker’s Hospital Review. In his op-ed, Kyle discusses the impact that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has had on the healthcare job market.
In the article, Healthcare job demand reaches all-time high, Kyle specifies key healthcare professions that have experienced growth in demand since the implementation of the ACA, including Hospitalists and Registered Nurses (RNs). “If the latest 2016 employment and open enrollment data are any indication, this growth shows no signs of slowing down,” writes Kyle. “Hospitals, ambulatory care centers, and schools are all under increasing pressure to find qualified healthcare employees.”

New York, May 2016 – Kelly Mattice, Vice President of Tandym Group’s Health Services division, was featured in a recent article on CNBC.com discussing how you can edit your resume to get noticed by prospective employers.
In the article, 6 resume fixes you should make right now, author Marguerite Ward seeks expert advice on tips to clean up a resume. Kelly makes a couple of key suggestions, including addressing gaps in your employment history and removing the objective section from your resume. "A general objective may make you lose points for not tailoring your resume to the position you are applying for,” says Kelly. “On the other hand, an objective that is too specific to the role may also eliminate you from the running.”

New York, April 2016 – Gary Grossman, President of Tandym Group’s Permanent Recruiting division, was featured as a contributor in Forbes. In his op-ed, The Big Disconnect That Could Cost You Your Best Employees, Gary discusses the challenges employers face in today’s candidate-driven job market.
In his article, Gary calls attention to a major disconnect between job seekers and employers. The disconnect, which was uncovered earlier this year in a survey conducted by Tandym Group, shows that employers don’t understand the value that job seekers place on professional development. This is ultimately leading many employers to lose top talent to organizations that can better address their needs.
According to Gary, “In order to attract talent to their organization and prevent those same professionals from leaving in the future, businesses of all sizes need to build a clear corporate ladder and show employees how to climb to the top.” He goes on to discuss four ways to prevent a good employee from leaving, including tips on improving the interview process and developing a strong company culture.

New York, March 2016 – Kelly Mattice, Vice President of Tandym Group’s Health Services division, was featured in a recent TIME article discussing how to negotiate multiple job offers.
In her article, How to Make the Most of Two Competing Job Offers, author Martha C. White answers a common question that job seekers face when balancing multiple offers: How can I make the most out of this situation? To do this, Kelly suggests alternatives to asking for a salary increase; instead, she advises job seekers to consider other accommodations as well as which opportunity aligns better with their career goals.

New York, February 2016 - Since its release in January, Tandym Group’s 2016 Hiring Outlook has received prominent media coverage across a variety of sources, ranging from niche industry publications to national media outlets.
One particular area of the whitepaper that many reporters focused on was the finding that there is a major disconnect between what job seekers look for in a job and what employers are actually offering. For example, the majority of job seekers and working professionals who took the survey ranked opportunities for professional development as the top factor in their decision to accept a job, while employers believe it’s only the fifth most important priority in a job or career for professionals.
“The overall climate of the job market today differs greatly from that of only a few years ago, and employers who do not recognize this, risk missing out on leading talent,” said Edward Fleischman, Founder and CEO of Tandym Group, when commenting on this trend. “This shift from an employer-driven market to a candidate-driven market requires employers to reevaluate their attraction and retention strategies. The first step involves learning more about this new type of candidate and what they actually want in an employer.”

New York, January 2016 - Kyle Mattice, President of Tandym Group’s Health Services division, was featured in a recent Monster.com article discussing the fastest growing healthcare jobs.
In the article, which covered the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook, author Catherine Conlan highlighted Kyle’s insight on the increase in demand for physician assistants. “Because of new ACA regulations, there has been a major push for patients to seek care outside of hospital settings,” he said. “This trend, combined with the overall shortage of physicians, has sparked tremendous growth in the demand for physician assistants at outpatient and ambulatory care centers.”

New York, January 2016 - Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group, was featured in a recent Huffington Post article discussing best practices for employee retention.
In the article, Top Talent's 2016 Career Question: Should I Stay, or Should I Go?, author Caroline Dowd-Higgins highlights Ed’s insight into the candidate-driven job market and why it’s never been more critical to focus on retaining your best employees. “Stellar candidates of any age often face the wonderful problem of multiple job offers and have the luxury of waiting for an opportunity that meets their unique criteria,” he said. “This shift from an employer-driven market to a candidate-driven market requires employers to compete more heavily for great talent than ever before. If an employer wants someone to stay, they must be able to tell the individual respectfully not only what they need to improve and what is required for promotion, but they also need to elicit meaningful feedback from the employee about what they need and value most in order to be able to stay.”

New York, January 2016 - Tandym Group is proud to announce that they have once again achieved the Gold Seal of Approval® for healthcare staffing services certification from The Joint Commission.
To become re-certified in healthcare staffing services, the firm underwent an unannounced on-site audit of its compliance with national standards that assess how staffing firms determine the qualifications and competency of their staff, how they place their staff, and how they monitor staff’s performance.
“Our Credentialing and Compliance group is the backbone of our division,” says Kyle Mattice, President of Tandym Group’s Health Services division. “We’re incredibly fortunate to have such a committed and dedicated team and wouldn’t be able to provide the level of service that we offer our clients and candidates without them.”
As part of the audit process, The Joint Commission reached out to some of Tandym Group’s clients who were quoted as referring to Tandym as, “their go-to partner” and “genuine and honest.”
“To ensure that our staffing process always exceeds The Joint Commission standards, we felt it was necessary to expand our Credentialing & Compliance department,” explained James Dolan, Managing Director of Credentialing & Compliance at Tandym Group. “Our Health Services division has grown significantly since our last audit, so it was important for us to make a greater investment in our internal process. Doing so has allowed us to better serve the employers we partner with, while ensuring our compliance with new policies.”
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission seeks to continuously improve healthcare for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. Tandym Group has been certified since 2009.
As we enter a new year, Tandym Group is proud to announce the release of their 2016 Hiring Outlook: Strategies for Adapting to a Candidate-Driven Market. The report provides insights into how companies can attract and retain talent in today’s highly competitive job market and discusses the massive impact of millennials on how companies hire and manage their employees.
“As the job market continues to improve, we are hearing from clients that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to both find and retain high-quality employees,” said Edward Fleischman, Chairman and CEO of Tandym Group. “Compounding the problem, we’re seeing a disconnect between what employees want in a job and what employers believe they want. It is our hope that the 2016 Hiring Outlook will help employers better understand this candidate-driven job market and provide them with the tools to build and sustain a strong workforce.”
The report’s findings were taken from a survey of 226 employers/hiring decision makers from companies across a number of sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and non-profit, among others. In addition to the employer survey, the report also incorporated findings from a survey of 591 job seekers and working professionals, shedding light on what is valued by today’s professionals both within a job and when job-searching.
Findings of the 2016 Hiring Outlook surveys include:
Based on the results of both surveys, the Hiring Outlook provides strategies for finding and securing talent and retaining employees. The report also explores the value of utilizing temporary employees to meet growing talent demands and discusses how employers can effectively tap into the millennial demographic, which recently surpassed Gen X to become the largest share of the U.S. workforce.

Health Services division, was recently featured in Becker’s Hospital
Review’s Workforce Labor Management section as a contributor.
In his op-ed, Ensuring Staffing Preparedness for the Next Epidemic,
Kyle emphasized the need for healthcare organizations to have
a specialized staffing strategy in place in the event of another epidemic.
“As the 2014 outbreak of Ebola revealed, epidemics put unexpected pressure
on healthcare organizations and their staff, as sudden spikes
in the number of patients in need of unique medical care upset the natural balance
of the healthcare staffing ecosystem,” he wrote. “With the number of Americans who
have access to healthcare at an all-time high due to the Affordable Care Act,
an epidemic could further strain the entire healthcare workforce. Therefore,
it is more important than ever for healthcare organizations to ensure that they
are adequately prepared to meet the staffing challenges that a future epidemic would present.”
To do this, Kyle advises healthcare organizations to:

Connecticut, May 2015 – Tandym Group is excited to
announce the expansion of their Hartford, Connecticut office!
Now located at 280 Trumbull St, this expansion allows them to better
serve their clients’ growing staffing needs in this area.
“In the beginning of 2014 we felt that establishing our Harford outpost with our Health
Services practice area would help link our business in
Connecticut to our activity in the Greater Boston area,” says Glenn
Bernstein, COO of Tandym Group’s Temporary Staffing division.
“Our clients have responded very well to our health services division in Hartford,
so we felt it was time to expand our service lines. By moving to a larger office
and hiring new staff members, we can now service our clients’ IT, Office Support,
and Accounting/Finance needs.”
Tandym Group is proud to announce the release of their
new whitepaper, The Post-ACA Enrollment Healthcare Staffing Market,
which focuses on staffing for an outcome-based care model!
“We released our first whitepaper on the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act last year – when the law had only been in place for a
few months – in order to advise our clients on how to proactively prepare
their staffing strategies for the changes being brought forth from the law,”
says Kyle Mattice, President of Tandym Group’s Health Services division.
“However, now that the first phase of the ACA has been in effect for a full year, we’re
seeing that the law has created many new opportunities for healthcare organizations and
medical professionals alike. Since the key to success in a changing industry is education,
we felt it was important to offer our stakeholders a new whitepaper that further explores
how they can capitalize on an outcome-based care model through a number of changes in

New York, March 2015 – Katie Niekrash, Senior Managing
Director of Tandym Group’s Healthcare division, was featured in a
recent MainStreet.com article discussing the reasons why job seekers should
negotiate for the job they really want, not just for a higher salary.

Job You Want, author Kathryn Tuggle highlights Katie’s insight
into why it’s important for professionals to be open to new opportunities
and how a new job can help them accomplish their professional goals.
“Your title is often more important than your salary, especially if you're
already considering your next move,” says Katie. “Some people have bland,
less-exciting titles that don't describe what they do or the leadership role
that they have, but often when you change jobs, you can get the title you
deserve as well as the raise. It's a no-brainer if you can upgrade both."

an ever-evolving job market.
In Elizabeth Garone’s article, The Secrets to Staying Employed, which was featured in BBC’s Career Coach column,

job with long-term growth potential. “During the interview process –
and through your own research via the organization’s social media and Glassdoor profiles –
look out for signs that the company offers training and cultivates internal growth,” he said.
“Additionally, never let yourself be swayed by money if you feel that the organization limits your
growth potential or the culture doesn’t meet your needs. After all, the more satisfied you are with
your employer, the more motivated you will be to seek out opportunities for [internal] growth.”

New York, February 2015 – Since its release in January, Tandym Group’s 2015 Hiring
Outlook has received prominent media coverage across a variety of sources, ranging from niche
industry publications like Accounting Today
to national media outlets such as Forbes.
One specific part of the whitepaper that many reporters found of interest was
the finding that 63% of clients surveyed say their biggest hiring challenge of 2015
will be finding qualified candidates. “The U.S. economy’s continued improvement has produced a
dynamic shift in the job market; with companies seeking to meet their talent needs,
high-quality job candidates are gaining an advantage,” said Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group, when
commenting on this trend. “This has forced companies to adopt new strategies to not only compete for and attract top talent,
but retain skilled employees as well.”
While this trend has major implications for employers,
job seekers also have to be aware of the strategies that hiring managers
are using to ensure a candidate is not only qualified for the job, but also a
cultural fit within the organization. For example, another finding of the Outlook
that reporters found noteworthy was that 80% of employers surveyed believe that personality
fit is a critical or very important aspect of their hiring decision, and to find that fit, they’re
increasingly asking personality and behavioral-based questions during interviews. When Jesse
Siegal, Senior Managing Director of Temporary Staffing, discussed this trend
with the Society for Human Resource Management, he explained,
“They need the technical skills to get in the door, but once they are in front of the hiring manager,
there is less concern about that technical skill and more about ‘Is this person going to be a long-term fit?’ ”
Depending on their audience, different publications pulled various aspects of the whitepaper to write their articles.

New Jersey, February 2015 – Tandym Group is proud to announce
that they have been selected by NJBIZ as one of the Best
Places to Work in New Jersey for the second consecutive year.
The award program identifies, recognizes, and honors the top places of employment in
New Jersey that benefit the state's economy, its workforce, and businesses.
“At Tandym Group we strive to promote a collaborative environment where every
employee, regardless of their tenure, feels that they have a voice and the support they need
for success,” says Lawrence Dolinko,
the President of the firm’s Temporary division who oversees the operations of
their two New Jersey offices in Bridgewater and Parsippany.
“We couldn’t have led the expansion of our services throughout the state without every single one of
our New Jersey-based employees, so we’re honored to be recognized by NJBIZ as a top place to work.”
To qualify for this award, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100
Best Places to Work in New Jersey. One part encompassed an evaluation of each
nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, while
another element included an employee survey that measured employee experience. The combined scores
of these two phases determined the top companies and the final ranking.
The 100 companies chosen for the honor were split up into two groups: 65 small/medium-sized
companies (15-249 employees) and 35 large-sized companies (more than 250 employees).
Tandym Group, which has 7 offices in the Northeast, including one in Bridgewater, NJ, and one in Parsippany NJ,
has been named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey in the small/medium category.
The award program, founded in 2005, is produced by NJBIZ. NJBIZ, program sponsors and partners will honor this year’s 100 Best Places to Work and announce their ranking during an awards reception and ceremony on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Hilton East Brunswick.
As we enter a new year, Tandym Group is proud to announce the
release of their 2015 Regional Hiring Guide.
This guide, which aims to educate employers and job seekers alike on trends affecting the state of
the job market, serves as a positive follow-up to 2014’s report that forecasted a year of continued improvement and growth.
This upturn in market health has also positively impacted the outlook of 2015’s job market – specifically,
one in which businesses are hungry for top
talent and professionals are being presented with the most opportunities since the 2008 financial crisis.
“The job market functions on two basic principles – what companies need in
their employees and what candidates want in their career – and in order for
it to thrive, both sides need to be educated on the other’s needs ,” says Edward
Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group. “This report compiles this information into one comprehensive
guide that we hope will help hiring managers make educated decisions in terms of hiring and retention,
as well as educate and guide working professionals in their individual career paths. “
To form an accurate prediction of 2015’s regional employment outlook, The
Tandym Group surveyed over 200 clients across the New York City Tri-State area and Greater Boston.
All survey respondents are hiring decision makers, and their hiring needs span the following industry sectors:
Accounting, Financial Services, Healthcare, Human Resources, Information Technology, Nonprofit, and Office Support.
The firm also offered a separate survey to job seekers they have worked with in the past year, inquiring about their
goals and career outlook for 2015, in order to provide a wide cross-section of insight from professionals at varying
levels and from different sectors.
Tandym Group’s
Melissa Haber, Director of our Legal Services division, was recently featured on
National Public Radio’s Marketplace in a segment regarding dropping law school enrollment rates.
According to the segment, enrollment rates are down nearly 7% from last year, with only 120,000 students
enrolled into law schools in 2014—the lowest since 1987. Melissa, who is a lawyer herself, provided some
insight on why this may be, citing shifts in employment rates as the main culprit.
Being a lawyer was a great option for those looking for a secure
future as little as a decade ago, but since then, fewer students are opting
for that career path. “In recent years, there has been an influx of new grads
coming out of law school and not enough available jobs to keep up.
It’s a matter of supply and demand, and supply has been high and demand low,” Melissa says.
“Many law school grads are faced with extremely high debt as law school tuition keeps climbing,
but the demand and pay for a lot of new lawyers is much lower in comparison. “
When schools were reporting 90% employment rates amongst their recent grads in 2000,
they were not required to specify what kinds of jobs, but now they do—and the numbers are lower for
permanent placements than expected. “There is still a small percentage of grads out of top tier
law schools that get the high paying jobs with top firms, but the majority of law school grads coming
out of school are leaving with over $100,000 in debt and find that the jobs pay around $60,000-$70,000 per year,”
says Melissa. “The numbers just don’t seem very attractive to incoming students and many pass up the option of
law school as a result.”
Of course, plenty of new grads do get jobs, but many are
now seeking employment through temporary assignments. Thankfully, these positions
are great options for those looking to pursue a career in law. “One of the many options for new
lawyers having a hard time finding employment is working on temporary legal assignments such as
document review projects and/or working for a firm or company legal department on a temporary basis,”
says Melissa. “These assignments allow the attorney to work on many different types of projects, which
promotes exposure to different types of legal areas such as litigation, corporate, labor and employment, etc.
This is a great way for an attorney who is out of work to have gainful employment and gain experience in
differed areas of the law, and in many cases, our candidates who have taken these positions have gone on
to obtain fulfilling long-term positions.”

New York, November 2014 – Mitchell Peskin, Executive Vice President of Tandym Group, was featured on National Public Radio (NPR)’s Marketplace Morning Report discussing the much-anticipated announcement of Goldman Sachs’ new Partners.
The financial giant makes this announcement every two years, and for those who are selected, landing on that list can be the peak of their career. “It literally becomes a huge compensation event,” said Mitch. “It means the ability to now participate in the Goldman Sachs Partnership bonus pool.” According to the radio show host, that pool can mean millions for each Partner involved—on top of a salary already reaching $1 million per year.
However, the title of Partner can be taken away, so those who have worked hard to earn it will have to work harder to keep it. According to Mitch, the work pays off. “If money is important to you, and I would say it is to most people that work on Wall Street, it’s as good as it gets.”

New York, July 2014 – Glenn Bernstein, Chief Operating Officer of Tandym Group’s Temporary Staffing division, was featured in a recent CIO.com article discussing the emphasis that employers are placing on interview questions aimed at assessing a candidate’s personality.
In the article, How to Judge a Job Candidate's Personality (and Why You Should), author Sharon Florentine highlights Glenn’s insight into the roles that cultural fit and personality play for both an employer making a hiring decision, and for a candidate considering an offer. According to Glenn, the millennial generation needs, “to find out ahead of time if a potential job is somewhere they can fit in,” while companies that hire for cultural fit tend to have lower turnover rates and greater employee engagement.
To learn more about the personality questions that Glenn asks candidates to determine whether there is a fit, please follow the link to the article, here.
New York, June 2014 – Tandym Group is pleased to announce that Alex Wright and Peter Tegano have been named Managing Directors of the firm. Having joined in 2009 and 2011, respectively, both have been integral to building out the firm’s Accounting/Finance practice area.
New York, June 2014 – On June 24th, Dwight Scott, Director of Tandym Group’s Retained Search division, was featured as a guest on the NPR radio show Marketplace discussing the key role that LinkedIn plays in both the job search and the hiring process, for employers and job seekers alike.
Dwight explains that 65 percent of his placements this year have been found through LinkedIn, preferring to actively search for candidates through LinkedIn over reviewing resumes of applicants. “LinkedIn Recruiter offers powerful, customized search options such as degrees, fields of study, industry, groups, etc. that allow me to narrow in on the specific candidate I’m looking for.”
For job seekers looking to get in front of hiring managers and recruiters, this makes LinkedIn an even more powerful job search tool. The key to being found? It’s as easy as a quick profile update.

New York, June 2014 – Edward Fleischman, Chairman and CEO of Tandym Group, was featured in a recent Business Insider article discussing the importance that employers place on cultural fit when interviewing candidates.
In an effort to find new hires that are great cultural fits, employers are putting more emphasis on soft skills, or intangible qualities, “that are not always apparent on a piece of paper,” Edward says. “Though the specific personality traits that employers are looking for are subjective to the role and the organization, some qualities that are a good indication of success in a role include organizational and communication skills, great team player, strong leadership skills, an ability to think on your feet, drive, and initiative.”
In her article, 11 Interview Questions Hiring Managers Ask To Test Your Personality, author Jacquelyn Smith, highlights some of the most common questions that employers are asking to figure out if candidates possess the soft skills and personality fit that they are looking for.

Connecticut, June 2014 – Katie Niekrash, Senior Managing Director of Tandym Group’s Healthcare division was featured as a guest on Fox Connecticut Morning News.
During the segment, which was hosted by Logan Byrnes, Katie commented on the trend towards mobile job seeking, discussing benefits and best practices of the mobile job search. “Applying to jobs through a mobile device not only expedites the hiring process, but also allows job seekers to demonstrate to employers that they are tech savvy,” said Katie. “If you see an email alert or a job opportunity on your phone, rather than waiting until you get home to apply, you can apply right then and there.”
In order for job seekers to take advantage of this trend towards mobile job seeking, Katie suggests:

New York, May 2014 – On Monday, Glenn Bernstein, Chief Operating Officer of Tandym Group’s Temporary Staffing division, was featured in a CBS News segment on the state of the job market for new grads. The segment covered a press conference Senator Chuck Schumer held at Hofstra University to cover the imbalance of student debt and interest rates to the likelihood that they’ll get a job after graduation. The segment then turned to Glenn for insight on job market trends and what they mean for recent or soon-to-be grads.
According to Glenn, there are still opportunities for new graduates in a number of fields. “Healthcare, specifically,” he said. “We see a lot in the information technology area. Digital media is a popular area right now. So there are jobs available; there’s just more competition for them.”
To stand out against the competition, Glenn’s advice for students is to begin the job search well before senior year and to think outside of the box when it comes to your search. Connections are key, so students should begin making new business and industry relationships through social media, internships, and networking early on in their college years.

New York, April, 2014—Edward Fleischman, Chairman and CEO of Tandym Group, was featured in a recent Forbes article discussing the rise in selectivity amongst qualified job candidates in the current marketplace and how companies can retain their top employees through “stay interviews.”
In the article, In The War On Talent, Use ‘Stay Interviews’ To Retain Great Employees, author Cheryl Conner highlights the importance of conducting stay interviews or informal reviews between a manager and employee to discuss progress, ideas, and/or any job-related issues. These candid reviews help managers build open relationships of trust with valued team members.
Ed explains that in order to retain top talent, proactivity is key. “You never want to wait until someone resigns to get feedback on why they have decided to leave for another opportunity.”

Lisa Carver, Managing Director of Tandym Group’s Temporary Staffing division, was recently featured in an article from Business News Daily, which discusses ways to optimize your networking and professional relationship building by investing in your “social capital.”
In the article, Need a Business Favor? Here’s How to Ask, author Nicole Fallon highlights Lisa Carver’s insight into the value and benefits of maintaining regular communication with your professional network. “The key to cultivating social capital is building strong, genuine relationships with your contacts,” says Lisa. “Whether it is through an email or a monthly phone call to catch up, find a reason to maintain consistent contact with them. Being thoughtful and considerate will help you earn their respect, which will, in turn, give you the right to ask for favors or assistance.”

New York, March 2014 – Tandym Group is proud to announce that they have been awarded the Best Recruitment Agency/Staffing Firm Mobile Website Award by the 2014 Global Mobile Recruitment Awards.
The awards program, which was founded by Mike Taylor, Managing Director of Web Based Recruitment, aims to acknowledge excellence and innovation in mobile recruitment while raising awareness of the importance of having a mobile recruitment strategy. After making the shortlist of three companies from different countries for the recruitment agency category, Tandym Group was selected for the honor.
“As we’ve grown as a company, it’s been really important to us to adapt our business with the changing times,” explains Hannah DeGiovanni, Chief Marketing Officer of Tandym Group. “As technology evolves and becomes more engrained in the hiring process, we knew that a growing number of professionals were searching for jobs from mobile devices, and wanted to make sure our site was easily accessible for all of the users who were visiting us while on the go.”
As a result, with ease of use always being a priority, in 2013 the firm re-developed their main site using adaptive technology for a responsive design in order to display content optimized for different devices – computers, tablets, or smartphones. So far, traffic to Tandym Group’s site from mobile devices has increased 46% year over year, with application rates and general engagement rates on the upswing as well.
“With our responsive design website, the ease of use improves the process for every visitor to our site, no matter what device they’re using or what content they may be trying to find,” notes Hannah. “With one site address that reformats for all devices, the site is truly a one stop shop, and it reduces the confusion that can sometimes exist when users need to move back and forth between sites or apps for different intended actions.”
New York, February 2014 – Tandym Group is proud to announce that they have been selected by Crain’s New York Business Magazine as one of New York’s largest executive recruiting firms. With over 60 recruiters who specialize in full-time placement, in addition to those who focus on temporary staffing from the New York City Tri-State area and Northern New Jersey on staff, the firm was ranked as the 7th largest firm on the list of 25.

New York, January, 2014 – Edward Fleischman, Chairman and CEO of Tandym Group, was featured in a recent article discussing the firm’s 2014 Regional Hiring Outlook whitepaper published on Forbes. In the article, Who's Hiring Now (And How To Surmount The Growing Skills Gaps In 2014), written by Cheryl Conner, Edward made note of several employment trends including the skills gap affecting the healthcare and financial services sectors. “With each new federal mandate, companies need additional specialized employees to keep their business compliant or drive their companies forward,” he commented. In response to the skills gap, employers in some industries are raising wages to attract talent and/or putting greater emphasis on soft skills when hiring. You can read the rest of the article and view an infographic based on The Tandym’s 2014 Regional Hiring Outlook, here.
New York, January, 2014 – Tandym Group, a leading recruitment, temporary staffing, and retained search firm, is pleased to announce the release of their 2014 Regional Hiring Outlook whitepaper.
The hiring guide aims to educate both employers and jobseekers on the factors and trends that affect the strength of the workplace in the recovering U.S. economy. The 2014 Regional Hiring Outlook whitepaper analyzes both employment and skill trends that will be prevalent in 2014 while identifying which industries will implement steady hiring practices throughout the year.
Tandym Group’s projections for 2014 are unique in the fact that they are truly regional. “We started as a regional firm, and remain one to this day,” said Ed Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group. “The vast majority of our clients are located in the Northeast, and the trends that affect business in one region of the country may vary greatly compared to other areas. As a result, we felt it was valuable to educate our stakeholders about the regional hiring trends that will specifically affect them in the coming year.”
A couple notable trends that the firm derived from their data is that clients across industry sectors noted that, when hiring, they are experiencing a skills shortage and putting greater emphasis on “soft skills,” such as communication skills, analytical thinking skills, and drive/initiative. As Ed stated, “We felt it was important to inform our stakeholders of these findings, so they had a stronger understanding of what they may need to emphasize or improve upon to put their best foot forward.”
To collect their data, Tandym Group surveyed 195 clients across the New York City Tri-State area and Greater Boston. The majority of respondents were hiring decision makers who hold C-Level, Director, or Managerial titles and work within these industry sectors: Accounting, Financial Services, Healthcare, Human Resources, Legal, and Office Support.

On January 13th, the firm officially opened its Hartford, Connecticut office at 100 Pearl Street, Suite 1402. Headquartered in New York City with additional offices in Melville, New York, Stamford, Connecticut, Bridgewater and Parsippany, New Jersey, and Waltham Massachusetts, this is the firm's seventh office and second in Connecticut. To oversee the development of the Hartford office, Tandym Group hired Kevin Bracken, who has over 10 years of healthcare recruiting and staffing experience, as Managing Director.
“We felt that opening the Hartford office provided us with the perfect opportunity to expand our market presence along the Northeast Corridor,” explained Kyle Mattice, President of Tandym Group’s Health Services, Temporary Division. “Establishing an outpost in Hartford will also help link our business in the state of Connecticut with our activity in the Greater Boston area. To build this connection, we felt that our Health Services practice area was the best place to start, and as we see more opportunities for growth, we will continue to expand.”
In early January, Tandym Group launched its Engineering division. Under the leadership of Danny Myers and Joseph Amador, the division will connect businesses with talent across the fields of civil engineering, environmental engineering, and manufacturing on a full-time, temporary-to-full-time, and contract basis.
The firm also expanded its Financial Services team with the addition of Sara Katz and Adam Harwood. New York, January, 2014 – Jesse Siegal, Managing Director of Tandym Group’s Temporary Staffing division, was featured in a recent article discussing the firm’s whitepaper titled, The Rise of the Contingent Workforce, published on Medibistro.com. In the article, New White Paper Reveals the Rise of the Contingent Workforce, written by Vicki Salemi, Jesse commented on the temporary staffing trend specific to the media industry. “Often times, employers in the media industry today are more apt to rely on a contractual temporary employee to fulfill employment gaps while working on a particular project,” noted Jesse. “This is due in large part to the rate at which technology is evolving, which is often faster than the companies and industries that they are intended to support.”

New York, January, 2014 – On Friday, January 10th, Edward Fleischman, Chairman and CEO of Tandym Group, made a guestappearance on Bloomberg Television’s “Taking Stock” with Pimm Fox where he discussed Tandym Group’s hiring projections for 2014.
The projections, which are also featured in Tandym Group’s 2014 Regional Hiring Outlook whitepaper, covered top challenges clients are facing in growing their business, the skills gap, and the increase in demand for staffing services.
“We’re finding that close to 50% of the clients we surveyed have reported that the top impediment in growing their business is hiring talent,” explained Edward. “They have a need for certain skills and are having a difficult time finding candidates who possess these skills in the marketplace.”
To bridge the gap between hiring needs and the skills shortage, which according to Tandym Group is especially prevalent in the Healthcare sector, Edward noted that employers must be willing to pay more for the talent they do find, and if they can’t find the talent they want, he advised employers to “get people on board who possess drive and initiative, and train them.”
Edward also commented on the need for talent internally at Tandym Group. “We’re a function of the marketplace and if our clients are hiring, we have to hire people in our firm so that we can meet their demands. For instance, in 2013, we experienced a 23% increase in headcount. As the market continues to have this demand, we at Tandym will continue to grow.”

New York, May 2010 - Tandym Group is proud to announce that one of its temporary employees, Christine Mathurin, was nominated for the New York Staffing Association’s Staffing Employee of the Year Award. She was chosen as one of four finalists invited to attend the awards ceremony and luncheon presentation hosted at the Association of the Bar of the City of New York on Tuesday, May 18, 2010.
Healthcare Staffing Coordinator Amanda Bleakney nominated Christine because she feels that Christine embodies the five key messages of the American Staffing Association: jobs, flexibility, bridge, choice, and training. The five messages relay what the organization believes to be the major benefits of working as a temporary employee.
Christine’s flexibility in choice of assignment allowed her to work at four different clients of Tandym Group. Her work as a temporary employee helped to bridge the gap until she found a permanent job offer. She was able to choose when and where she worked while gaining experience and knowledge of a variety of organizations. With these assignments, Christine increased her population-specific skills through orientation and free training thus increasing her overall marketability as a great candidate.
“Christine Mathurin has always been a pleasure to have working on our assignments,” said Staffing Coordinator Amanda Bleakney. “She is positive, flexible, a great communicator, always gives extra effort, and is a shining example of what we look for in our temporary employees.”
Tandym Group congratulates Christine on her nomination and a job well done for exemplifying the qualities that all employers are seeking in their ideal candidate.

Upon completing the Joint Commission’s evaluation process, Tandym Group was awarded certification for Health Care Staffing Services.
“Health care organizations that contract with Tandym Group can look to this certification as an assurance that Tandym Group demonstrates a commitment to providing and continuously improving quality services,” says Michele Sacco, M.S., executive director, Health Care Staffing Services Certification, Joint Commission.
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission seeks to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations. Governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses, and consumers, The Joint Commission sets the standards by which health care quality is measured in America and around the world.
“Certification recognizes Tandym Group’s dedication to providing health care professionals that are qualified to provide safe, high-quality care to patients,” says Kyle Mattice, Managing Director of the Temporary Health Services division. “We’re proud to receive the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.”
New York, October 2009 - Tandym Group has established itself on various social media sites in order to connect with job seekers in the City of New York and Tri-State area. Adding to a 20+ year track record of innovation and excellence, Tandym Group is one of the first regional recruitment firms to launch a social media initiative to assist job seekers.
Utilizing multiple Twitter accounts, a Facebook fan page, LinkedIn, and a company blog (blog.execu-search.com), Tandym Group interacts with job seekers and career people alike, sharing the latest career-related news, job seeker tips, and up-to-the-minute job opportunities. Tandym Group believes that staying on the cutting edge of technology is necessary to success in the recruitment industry.
With more job seekers turning to the internet each day for networking and job opportunities, we are pleased with our online presence- particularly on social networking sites,” said Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group. “It allows us to interact and assist them with their job search in ways that were not possible just a couple of years ago.”
Social media is just one part of the innovative online resources Tandym Group offers job seekers. Earlier this year, Tandym Group website was listed as one of “The 20 Best Job Search Web Sites” by PCMag, one of the world's best-known publishers of leading technology-based digital content products. Links to all of the company’s social media profiles can be found on the company’s website by visiting tandymgroup.localhost/socialmedia.
New York, March 2009 - Tandym Group’s website, tandymgroup.localhost, was listed as one of “The 20 Best Job Search Web Sites” by PCMag, one of the world's best-known publishers of leading technology-based digital content products. The article highlights 20 web sites that take a different approach to helping job seekers find a job.
Tandym Group website – which is updated daily and currently lists more than 900 jobs – is dedicated to making the job search process easier for both job seekers and employers. “Tandym looks to be a selective, higher-tier job search property,” said Sean Ludwig, editor of the PCMag article. “Tandym screens and reviews every resume that is submitted, and helps employers find the best possible candidates for their open positions.”
For those seeking a position, searching for jobs on tandymgroup.localhost is as simple as entering keywords or choosing an industry, location, and practice area. Job seekers can also create and manage Job Alerts, e-mails with the latest jobs that match their job search preferences.
Employers can use the Tandym website to easily submit job orders online. After submitting a job order online, employers are assigned to a recruiter who evaluates each employer’s needs and finds the right professional for the position.
New York, February 2009 - Edward Fleischman, CEO of Tandym Group, was recently interviewed by CNBC’s Mark Koba in regards to the current job outlook in the Financial Services industry. While recent turmoil on Wall Street has left many finance professionals without a job or, at best, without job security, Fleischman believes there are good opportunities available for professionals willing to be sensible and strategic in their search.
While there has been a substantial drop in hiring within Financial Services, other industries are not only hiring - they’re growing. Professionals willing to expand their search to other industries – for example, Health Services (i.e., Pharmaceuticals), Technology, Government, and the Legal field (i.e., law firms specializing in investment banking) – are more likely to find success.
It’s also important to remember that the number of job seekers has increased substantially in the City of New York and the Tri-State area over the past several months, and that means extraordinary competition for fewer jobs. Job seekers would do well to look beyond New York City and consider re-locating as firms in many other areas of the country would love to hire experienced New York talent.
Fleischman also points out that looking for a job is, in itself, a full-time job, and it is vital to devote as much time as possible to the process. In addition to utilizing recruitment firms and personal connections with friends and former colleagues to assist you with your search, online professional networking services such as LinkedIn can be an excellent resource and a great way to get your foot in the door. Recruiters from all divisions at Tandym Group can be found on LinkedIn and are always open to connect with those seeking employment.
Above all, says Fleischman: “You have to have a good mental outlook. Wake up every morning and go find it.”

At Tandym, our employees are unified around the same mission – to provide top-level, uniquely personal service to every client and professional with whom we work. Valuing and respecting our employees for that service is, quite simply, a given, for, without their hard work and dedication, Tandym Group would not have developed the longstanding and leading reputation in the recruitment and staffing industry that it has since we opened our doors more than 20 years ago.
To that end, our workplace is also built around the notion that great work should be recognized and rewarded. Firm-wide social events ranging from monthly charitable fundraising events to daily gatherings in the firm’s Recreational Room for games of ping pong and billiards help us to achieve a balanced work environment. We also believe in providing performance incentives and growth opportunities; for example, we have initiated a firm-sponsored “Chairman’s Circle” event in which the firm’s top performers are rewarded for their top service with a weekend-long getaway at a major resort.

New York, December 2008 - At Tandym Group, we are dedicated to giving back to our community. By giving of ourselves, we strengthen our community as well as our team here at Tandym. We have always been proud of the level of commitment exemplified by our employees, not just to recruitment and staffing, but the heartfelt commitment to helping others.
Having experienced such success with our existing charitable efforts, we decided to take them a step further with the creation of Tandym Group Charitable Giving Program. Our belief is that there are so many worthy causes that need and deserve our support that it’s impossible to pick just one - so we’ve picked twelve. With a different charity to focus on each month, Tandym has been able to raise awareness for some wonderful causes.
Whether it is donating to our Charitable Giving Program or taking a day to donate time to an organization, we embrace the opportunity to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Here are some ways we’ve made a difference:
•January’s Charity of Choice: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital For over 40 years, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital has been striving to help children worldwide through unmatched quality of care and continued scientific efforts. It is for this reason that we chose St. Jude’s Research Hospital to be the first beneficiary of the 2008 Charitable Giving Program. •February’s Charity of Choice: The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Day In February, Tandym Group joined the AMA’s national campaign to raise awareness of the deadly effects cardiovascular disease has on women.
